While I am agnostic about God, I do believe in the individual worth and dignity of all human beings. Somewhere in the place we call mind there is a nugget called soul. I do not pretend to know or understand anything about a soul's mortality or immortality. This spirit is nurtured by the thoughts we allow ourselves to entertain.
Life is filled with bittersweet experiences of emotional pain and happiness. One cannot truly appreciate happiness without having the experience of unhappiness. Unhappiness affirms happiness, just as in the end death affirms life.
The human spirit moves us forward to new experiences. I believe all of us have a drive for connectedness with other people. It is this drive toward emotional intimacy that forms the basis for spiritual renewal and the transcendent bonding with other people that calms our aloneness.
This is my concept of living: Consciousness is a gift to be enjoyed. How we arrive at consciousness is one of the mysteries of existence. It is the touching of the consciousness of independent souls that leads to a bonding of spirit which transcends our solitude. When we touch each others souls a little bit through our daily activities, our personal community of friends, and with our significant others we become part of a larger whole. It is this emotional touching which forms the root of spirituality and which allows us to grow. Through the bonding with other sentient beings our souls become part of the vast collection of entities that make up life. Our evolution moves us further toward oneness with life and toward love of humankind.
AND NOW THESE THREE REMAIN: FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE. BUT THE GREATEST OF THESE IS LOVE. I Corinthians 13
I search for faith in humanity amidst the world's misery and hope to find love in a better future.
It is my aspiration as a sentient being to find a life affirming perspective in the void canvass of the universe.
