POETRY APPRECIATION WORKSHOP:
Workshop begins with a discussion of “What is Poetry?” inviting group participation. Time will be devoted to current poetry of nationally known poets with an eye toward considering what makes the poems effective. Group members will be invited to bring original work to share. 1-2 Hours.
POETRY WRITING WORKSHOP:
Have you ever wanted to write down your ideas, or perhaps express your feelings poetically? Do you want to write but have “writer’s block”? Many people have thoughts about life, death, love, and relationships but sometimes have trouble getting them onto paper. In this workshop we will explore ways to help you get unstuck in your writing and develop methods for jump starting your poetry. There will be group discussion, several fun writing exercises, and the chance to share the results for all who wish to do so. Constructive criticism from workshop participants will be welcomed. Participants are invited to bring their poems to the workshop for group discussion and constructive feedback. This five session workshop of 90 minute sessions is usually held one day a week for five consecutive weeks.
